Monthly Wrap-Up: August 2015

Posted September 3, 2015 by Hazellie in Books, Tarot / 0 Comments

I used to do monthly wrap-ups for the books I read, but wrap-ups for only books don’t cut it anymore. I have so much else going on in my life that I would love to share with you and I’ve noticed many other bloggers doing wrap-ups for everything going on in their lives, so I decided that this is what I’m going to do too from now on.

So here’s my monthly wrap-up for August:

Two significant things happened this August; firstly, it’s the 1st anniversary of the day I started Mynas’ Moon! I’ve been doing tarot readings for a while and started reading professionally a couple of years ago, but didn’t decide to do it full-time until last year, and that’s when I started Mynas’ Moon.

It’s been an interesting year with a lot of challenges, but I’m so happy with the growth of both my business and my spiritual self.

Secondly, in December 2014, I did a Wheel of the Year tarot reading for myself for the year of 2015. It’s extensive because it’s for the whole year, and while I do readings for others all the time, it’s hard to stay objective when reading for myself, so I like to keep a journal and make notes of my tarot readings for myself. I’m always thrilled when my readings for myself make sense. LOL!

Here’s one of the cards I got for August 2015: King of Cups

This is some of what I wrote about the King of Cups when I did the reading in December:

Open your heart and mind to those around you. Trustworthy and heartfelt advice. Charity work. May be called upon to provide our time or money to charitable organizations.

Every month, I review my reading for the month that just ended, this month when I read this, I gasped and said aloud to myself, “How did you (or rather, I) know?!”

We had a charity event on the 31st of August, and since it’s been 8 months since I did the reading and didn’t check August’s reading until now, I had forgotten about the reading, and didn’t even register it when we were planning the event!

Charity event

We had a charity event on the 31st of August. About 40 kids from the local orphanage came over for a catered lunch, and we spent the afternoon playing games and giving away prizes.

The kids ranged from 3 years of age, to 16, and they were all really sweet and polite. They got a little rowdy at the games, but that’s to be expected because everyone was having so much fun!

A really fun and happy day for all!

Checking out the goodies in their goodie bags!

It was really wonderful seeing them happy. Some of the little kids were really cute, and a few of the older ones were so kind and patient with the younger ones. They were all really supportive and encouraging towards each other during the games.

My parents organize something for these kids almost every year, but I had been overseas for a few years so the last time I was here for them was maybe 6-7 years ago. It was such a rewarding experience, and I hope to see them again really soon.

Books Read

  1. The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins
  2. The Night We Said Yes by Lauren Gibaldi
  3. Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick
  4. The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau
  5. Independent Study by Joelle Charbonneau
  6. Graduation Day by Joelle Charbonneau
  7. The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch

It wasn’t really a great reading month for me, but I spent a lot of the time being book hungover from The Hunger Games, and also binge-watching the three Hunger Games movies already out.

I can’t wait for Mockingjay Part 2 this November, but I also know I’m going to cry buckets and probably won’t be getting out of bed for a while after that.
